Margrit and Theodor built the then Chalet Rofel in 1982, having previously lived in the Hotel Bella Vista. When their daughter Bernadette took over the hotel and started her own family, they decided to hand over the flat in the hotel to the young family. This made it easier to combine family and career. They built Chalet Rofel themselves with a great deal of personal effort and attention to detail.

The chalet was initially the home of Margrit and Theodor. Later, their grandchildren Christine, Fabienne and Stefanie took turns living in the chalet with their families.

Today, the chalet is owned by Stefanie, who, together with her family, decided to rebuild the building in 2024. The young family is very much looking forward to welcoming many guests to their home.

As locals, we know Zermatt very well - the most beautiful ski slopes, the unique viewpoints, the hiking trails, the restaurants, the bars, the shops and the attractions. We are happy to pass this knowledge on to our guests to make their stay in Zermatt unforgettable. We are happy to interact with our guests and pass on the values of Margrit and Theodor as well as Bernadette and Franz. Because we are familiar, hospitable and authentic.
